Taurus G2C IWB Holster

The Taurus G2c is a modern, polymer-framed, compact pistol by the Brazilian firearms manufacturer Forjas Taurus SA.

The G2c is also known for being inexpensive, making it an excellent option for the shooter on a budget. If you own a Taurus G2c, you should use a high-quality concealed carry holster. Learn about the best Taurus G2c holsters you can buy today.

Taurus G2c Specifications

The Taurus G2c is a polymer-framed, striker-fired pistol with a compact design, explicitly for concealed carrying and civilian self-defense. The G2c was released on the market in 2018, serving as a second-generation successor to the older Taurus G2 Millennium.

One of the G2c’s primary features is its DA/SA striker-fired action. Unlike the traditional single action striker-fired mechanism,  the G2c’s action is restrike capable.

In practice, if you pull the trigger and experience a failure to fire, the G2c enters double action mode instead of decocking, allowing you to attempt pulling the trigger again to try and get the round to fire. This feature was designed to keep the shooter in the fight even when loaded with ammunition featuring hard or reluctant primers.

The G2c handgun is available in 9x19mm (12-round magazine capacity) or .40 S&W (10-round magazine capacity). Note that older Taurus G2 and Taurus PT140 pistol magazines are 100% interchangeable with G2c magazines of the same caliber (e.g., a PT140 pistol magazine in .40 S&W will fit a .40-caliber G2c).

All G2c carry pistols feature an overall length of 6.25”, a width of 1.25”, a barrel length of 3.25”, and an unloaded weight of 22 oz., making them lightweight and practical for daily carry. Additionally, all G2C pistols possess an underbarrel rail, compatible with small laser sights and light accessories.

Taurus G2C Holster Considerations

Most concealed carry enthusiasts carry their handguns in an Inside the Waistband holster (IWB holster), such as the  Incognito Concealment T3. If you wear your IWB holster correctly, your cover garment (e.g., shirt and pants) will almost completely hide your gun and holster, leaving only a belt clip visible on your gun belt.

This high concealability is why small, compact handguns such as the Taurus G2C are best suited for IWB carry. However, carrying IWB requires wearing a holster directly against your body, which can be uncomfortable when sitting.

If you want a better balance of comfort and concealment, you may opt for an Outside the Waistband holster (OWB holster) instead, such as the  Incognito Concealment Venture. As the name suggests, carrying OWB allows your holster to ride on the outside of your pants.

However, if you wish to carry an OWB holster concealed, you will need to wear an additional layer, such as a suit or jacket. Depending on your local weather and dress code, this may not always be a feasible option. You must carefully select which holster style is most suitable for your needs and the environment.

Whether you prefer an IWB or an OWB holster, don’t forget to consider adding a magazine carrier to your gun belt, such as the  Incognito Concealment MAXFP. Although the G2c’s 12-round mag capacity is advantageous for a pistol of its class, carrying spare magazines offers you a tactical advantage if your magazine runs empty or if you need to clear a malfunction.

How to Reach Maximum Concealment

IWB carrying is the only way for gun owners to deep-conceal a handgun. Therefore, if your top priority is concealment, a high-quality IWB Kydex holster is the best way to carry your G2c. The most important thing to understand is that not all holster products are made equal.

The best concealment holster possesses several convenient and quality-of-life features designed to help you hide your gun from public view as effectively as possible without sacrificing comfort or durability.

If you already have experience with concealed carrying, you know that your pistol's width has a greater impact on its concealability than its overall length.

Consequently, if you have a thin, concealable pistol like the Taurus G2c, you shouldn't wear a bulky, low-quality IWB holster, as it will print heavily under your shirt and make it evident that you're carrying. Instead, you should prioritize using holster products with a slim profile, helping you conceal your gun more efficiently.

Best Holster Features for Taurus G2C

At Incognito Concealment, we offer high-quality concealment holster models that you can adjust and configure to your liking. Here are some of the features they possess.

Multiple Carry Positions

Your Incognito Concealment holster is suitable for use on a gun belt in any carry position you wish.

Most concealed carrying citizens in the United States favor strong side hip carry, but you may prefer to use the FBI carry position, appendix carry, cross draw, or whichever position you find most comfortable.

If you’re unfamiliar with carry positions, here is a quick breakdown of some of the most popular ones:

  • Strong side hip carry: Your CCW holster rides on the hip, on the side of your body corresponding to your dominant hand. If you’re right-handed, your strong side is on your right hip.
  • Appendix carry: Your holster rides directly in front of your body, over your pelvic area. Appendix carry requires extra care and safety, as it causes your gun’s muzzle to point in a sensitive direction (crotch, thigh, major femoral artery).
  • Behind the hip carry: Sometimes referred to as “FBI carry,” a holster carried behind the hip is similar to strong side hip carry but riding behind the hip instead of directly over it. With adjustments, this carry position offers an ideal draw angle for people who need to remain seated for long periods, such as law enforcement officers.
  • Cross-draw carry: Carrying cross-draw means your concealed holster rides above the pelvic bone on the opposite side of your strong side, with the grip of your weapon presenting so that you can draw it with your dominant hand. Cross-draw holsters are among the most comfortable holsters available, offering a fast and effective draw angle. However, cross-draw carry requires considerable draw stroke practice to avoid flagging other people or yourself.

Adjustable Ride & Cant

Adjustable ride height and adjustable cant angle are essential features in a modern concealment holster. They allow you to fine-tune the orientation of your holster for the perfect fit and comfort against your body.

An adjustable ride height lets you configure how deeply your concealment holster sits relative to your waistline. Typically, a deeper ride height translates to better concealment at the cost of making your weapon more challenging to draw, whereas a higher ride height presents more of the gun for you to grip and draw but may result in more printing.

Holsters featuring an adjustable cant angle allow you to configure the rotational angle of your holster, letting you determine how you want to orient your weapon’s grip. A zero-degree cant corresponds to a perfectly vertical handgun barrel perpendicular to the ground. Positive cant tilts the gun forwards, whereas negative cant tilts it rearwards.

A famous example is the FBI carry position, which typically combines behind the hip carry with a moderate amount of positive cant, usually between 15 and 25 degrees.

Adjustable Tension

An IWB carry belt holster can only realistically provide passive retention by design and necessity, meaning it will retain your gun using pressure from holster friction alone. Active retention is a feature exclusive to specific OWB holster models (e.g., police and military duty holsters) and cannot be found on IWB concealment holsters.

Still, a good carry gun holster should let you adjust the draw tension rate by configuring the adjustable tension screws and choosing how tightly or loosely your holster should fit your weapon. A well-fitting Taurus G2C holster is critical for your firearm’s safe and secure retention.

A looser fit helps with a faster and easier draw, but excessive looseness may compromise security, presenting the risk of your gun falling out of the holster. Conversely, a tighter fit retains your gun more effectively but requires more force to draw out, and excessive tightness may result in your weapon remaining stuck unless forcefully ripped out.

You should experiment to find what works best for you, as all customers have varying preferences.

Lightweight Genuine Black Kydex

All Incognito Concealment holsters are constructed from genuine Kydex sheets, molded to the exact shape of your firearm.

Kydex offers many advantages over traditional leather holsters or a generic holster made of ballistic nylon. Kydex is durable, resistant to impact, impervious to sweat or exposure to the elements, yet reasonably priced and low-maintenance. The superior retention makes a huge difference over holsters made of other materials.

Whether you choose an IWB or OWB holster, the Kydex material makes it a safe and durable holster you can depend on in any situation.

Audible Click on Holstering

Although not frequently discussed, many concealment holsters do not give positive feedback to the shooter when the gun returns to its holstered position, leading them to double-check and visually inspect. Looking down can waste considerable time, particularly in a serious situation where you may prefer to keep your eyes focused on potential threats.

Your Incognito Concealment holster emits an audible click sound when fully re-holstering, allowing you to confirm you've clicked the gun back in place without needing a visual check. The click is more than just a convenience; it is a life-saving feature.
