FAQ

IWB
  • What is kydex?

A line of thermoplastic that is an acrylic-polyvinyl chloride composite engineered for thermoforming fabrication. From acrylic, it obtains rigidity and formability; from PVC, toughness, chemical resistance and good interior finish ratings. It has a wide variety of applications, including for aircraft bulkheads, firearm holsters, & knife sheaths. Kydex sheet was originally produced in 1965 by Rohm and Haas, having been designed for use in aircraft interiors. In 1987, the product line was purchased by Kydex, LLC, which manufactures the material under the name Sekisui SPI at a location in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania.

  • Why what are the pros & cons of kydex?

Pros - waterproof, positive retention that's adjustable, rigid and maintains shape for easy reholstering, safe and secure, protects the trigger guard and keeps gun from falling out like nylon and some leather, thin and compact for concealed carry.

Cons - Can wear gun over time and hard use, not soft like leather or nylon.

  • What color & thickness is our standard holster?

Black and .080 thickness because it is rigid and durable yet still slim and low profile.

  • What holster should I use?

Depends on a few variables. What is the purpose intended, what are you wearing, what weather are you in, and your body type. It really comes down to what's most comfortable for you and easiest to conceal yet still be able to draw fast and effective. Check out this video on the different ways you can carry here.

  • Will extreme temperatures affect my holster?

There is little affect by cold temperatures. But depending on how hot were talking a holster may be affected. Just like metals when exposed to extreme heat become malleable so can kydex. A super hot car or other instances of extreme heat for long enough periods of time may remove retention and definition from the holster.

  • Do our holsters come with a warranty?

Yes we believe in our products and offer a Lifetime warranty on our holsters. We use them ourselves daily and stand by them. Note our warranty is only valid on holsters purchased directly from us or one of our certified distributors.

  • What is our return policy?

We offer a 30 day return for our standard quick ship holsters. The purchaser pays the shipping. We do not offer a return on custom holsters due to the unique specifications and colors being made custom to the individuals needs.

  • What is the purpose of the appendix claw?

To tuck the gun and holster closer to the body by pushing against the inside of the waistline. Check out our video here to learn more.

  • Will kydex holsters scratch my gun?

Yes. Every kind of holster will wear your gun over a long enough period of use. The main point of contact and retention is on the trigger guard and not the slide. A small application of oil to the inside of the holster will decrease the wear and protect the finish while providing a smoother draw.

  • Will a light bearing holster have retention without the light or laser?

Very little if none at all. Light bearing holsters are designed specifically for the intended firearm and attachment configuration and will not fit properly without that attachment.
